“My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him”. Psalm 62:5 NKJV
We have all been in a long, slow moving checkout line. Got frustrated, anxious, or even cut off. But we have all gotten the expected outcome. We sometimes get crazy with anticipation when it comes to a birthday, knowing we are getting something, and can’t wait for the day to come. And get the expected outcome.
In turn, I also believe we have all been in a situation where we were hoping to receive; whether it was compensation or maybe a gift, and were left disappointed. Or maybe we had high hopes for someone and they didn’t live up to what we thought they would be. In these cases we received less than expected.
Then there are times when we received way more than we expected. That’s God! He gives us way more because He has unlimited resources. When our expectations are from people, we are limited to their capabilities. But when our expectations come from God, it’s puts Him in a position to move for us in a grander way. In other words, if we don’t expect anything from God we probably won’t get anything.
The next verses in this passage of Psalms say that He only is my rock, salvation, defense, my strength, and my refuge. So with that kind of assurance and expectation, we can wait silently for God alone because we’ll get what we expect. And I believe when we expect more, He gives more.
